Jane Brunning
Tapestry Weaver

I am an experienced tapestry weaver and weave from my studio at home where I do my own work, commissions and run workshops. I am able to offer B&B and evening meal for students, or alternatively there is a Premiere Inn over the road. I live a mile from the sea so a beach walk is always a good way to end the day. If you have any queries about any of the courses, accommodation or anything please contact me.

Stone and Water: Tapestry Weaving in Turkey with Jane Brunning and Louise Martin

Monday 23rd - 30th September 2019

Single room: £805
Twin/double room: £720 each
Karma Suite: double/twin room plus sitting room £830 per person

The setting offers lots of inspiration. This years stimulating programme will focus on stone and water.

Drawing exercises will be interspersed with technical demonstrations and long periods to weave in the spacious studio. With two experienced tutors there is time for lots of individual attention.

This will be the fourth group we have taken to the stunning area of Dalyan, Turkey. This fertile region, next to the sea and surrounded by hills, has been a wonderful backdrop for workshops. Situated in the countryside, 20 minutes walk from the centre of Dalyan, Villa Cabrese (Spectrum) is a peaceful place where you can sit by the pool or meander through the garden and relax in a hammock or tree house. Spaces to work are plentiful and the vegetarian meals cooked by Turkish ladies are delicious.

These costs include transfers from Dalaman airport for people flying on the Gatwick and Manchester flights which Jane will notify you about. Other transfers please contact Jane.

All breakfasts, 5 evening meals, tips, tuition and two half day excursions are included in the price.

The trip excludes flights, visa (approximately £12), insurance and personal spending money.

Workshops  2019
Flowers or Not, from Design to Tapestry

June 7th - June 9th
Friday 2.00pm - 6.30pm
Saturday 9.30am - 6.30pm
Sunday 9.30am - 4.00pm

We are going to use the famous Highdown Chalk Gardens for our inspiration for this course: www.highdowngardens.co.uk. It is a beautiful garden. The flowers will be the starting point for designing. Some students may like to focus on flowers where others may like to use the landscape as a colour composition. Your ideas and designs will become a basis for a tapestry or series of tapestries. Everyone will work at their own level and pace using their own ideas.

Some materials are provided. Your tapestry can be shaped, square, rectangular. Some of the techniques that that will be included will be hatching, blending, sumac, wrapping, eccentric weave, slits. Interlocking, dovetailing plus any 3D techniques.
